    Hold L and use X and B to select a coating, then with the bow out hit X and A at the same time to equip it. Each bow can only equip certain coatings.

    I just started using the bow too, I was simply scrolling through and saying to myself" this doesn't seem any different...." Now I know why. Fun weapon , can't wait till I can upgrade.
