Man the arena quests always give you such terrible weapons. It's like they're giving you a tree branch and saying, “Here, go poke it til dies or believe in your hunter's spirit or something”

    Make like Naruto and be empowered by your bonds and friendships. Well, the Switch Axes are terrible for me - it's one of the few that I just can't use properly. :)

    They test your actual skill and knowledge of monsters. The weapons are more like a handicap for the monsters. Seeing as they are effective but not overpowered.

    That's true but there are a couple of weapons which will make you doubt the arena manager wants you to kill the monster at all

    As somebody who's played monster Hunter since the ps2 I know about skill and all but sometimes even with a good weapon and armor it will still take skill to beat it. Have you played any other of these

    It might look that way, but the thing is, you can do them with friends! I think some weapon options are really designated for support roles, but if they're there, they must be viable for solo play.

    yeah but you cant do whacky things in the arena like flash bomb a monster, trap them, attack, wash rinse repeat until no more traps unless a groups got the items for it... no cheap tricks fer us!

    Armor skill or "playing skill", either way, what you're saying is true - some choices are bastards. I remember the Kirin quest in MHFU - LSing him was horrible, but I managed after many failures. :D

    Oh well I can't argue with that. btw have you tried those quests when they give you weapons with YELLOW sharpness and they tell you to kill a khezu or tigrex
