    Simultaneously press X and A with your bow drawn out.

    Take your bow out ... hold L like you are selecting items, but instead of using Y and A, press X and B to scroll up and down through your coatings.

    Different Bows can only use certain coatings, just as Bowguns can only use certain ammo. It is in the weapon stats what coatings it can use.

    I still have never made a Bow that can use the 'Slime' coating. That one is rare (at least at High Rank. I've not seen the G-Rank options yet).

    *message to Vuldari: The Kelbi Slingshot is notorious for it's Slime element but can only be activated with the "Awaken" armor skill.
