I'd love to see a more coherent Castlevania2 style game made again. Metroidvania doesn't count. I'd love for Nintendo to make a NEW Zelda 2 style game. The progression and combat in Z2 is very unique.

    The closest Castlevania ever came back to Simon's Quest would arguably be Order of Ecclesia, or if 3D is your thing, Curse of Darkness.

    if you want a zelda II style game get adventure time: hey ice king! why did you steal our garbage! its a good zelda II sequel (even if it really isnt) and the humor is great.

    Yeah good point with Order, but I'd still put that closer to SotN than 2. I've heard that of AT. Plus it's from WayForward whom I'm fond of. The show never interested me however. I'd try it.

    The Shantae series is also highly influenced by Simon's Quest (2 are on 3DS with a 3rd on the way and a 4th coming to all consoles)... see, Wayforward already know how to make Castlevania-like games!

    Give their Bloodrayne: Betrayal a try. It's almost like if you combined Castlevania and Strider. It's very cool. $10 PSN/XBLA if I remember.
