The title is actually censored, it's supposed to be Super Contra (like the arcade game) But because the game seems to resemble the 1980's nicaraguan contra, a current event at the time.

    Contra 1 wasn't censored because the contra in nicaragua never happened. By contra force, nintendo realized it was silly and it was basically old news by then anyways
