if i use, for example, a thunder switch axe with 1000 attack on a thunder resistant monster, and another axe with 1000 attack power but no element, which will do more damage? or will they do the same?

  • Maybe the same since thunder resistent monsters are immune to the thunder status effects.

  • What are the phials? If the thunder one has a power phial and the other doesn't, then the thunder one will still outdamage the normal one if you use sword mode.

  • i meant can a monster's elemental resistance ever result in less damage done than if the element on your weapon wasn't there?

  • No, because it would only effect the elemental damage not the raw.
