    Maybe he gets taken in, "adopted" by the girl's family, or Magnus, while recovering. It woud definitely give him a greater role in the story. Maybe the damage was so bad that Pit lost his angel-hood

    Maybe the quest involves finding balance in the soul and reaching enlightenment? Maybe Dark Pit is the embodiment of Pit's anger & wrath? It would give a reason for Pit's more lighthearted personality

    Back to the flying thing, in KI angel feathers gave Pit flight temporarily. I always figured Pit was just a baby angel, and had more growing to do. It's unknown if Adult Pit can fly.
