    You have to knock Earthwake into the water behind him before he could do the same to you. Use Giant Dreamy Luigi's hammer to knock him backwards. The better the swing, the farther Earthwake will go.

    The armor? Mere child's play! Oh, wait...kids game...riiight. <facepalm> Just jump on it. I, however would recommend using that drill jump, you know, for assurance.
