Dung bombs, or shock traps? Which one has more use. One being good for not being eaten by a monster or making monsters seperate. Then on the other hand you have the ability to spam a monster, and possibly focus on breaking an essential part! You decide, which one has more use and where you may use it (in other ways than what I have listed).

  • It seems to me, that, simply put, one is for offensive tactics, and the other is for defensive tactics. Using a trap, as you said, opens a lot of opportunity for attacks and other offensive tactics. Whereas a dung bomb will reduce the danger in the field by driving monsters away, hence a defensive tactic. Which is best depends on the situation and the hunter's preferred style.

  • Depends where I'm fighting. If its any arena or tower, I'll take a shock trap. No use in seperating monsters that can go anywhere else. Otherwise, dung bomb. It's nearly impossible to fight two monsters at once. It's the only way to seperate them otherwise, and not to get eaten. If I am pinned down (Other than Jho), usually a friend can get a few good attacks off before I throw a dung bomb.

  • I love using that tactic Jonathan. My brother and I use it all of the time. The monster does not even realize it is being DESTROYED while it nibbles away at you!

  • I also know about capping Captain Falcon. It is one valid point for the traps people, since it is a very useful tactic when farming for rare drops. I also overuse capping when hunting online since most of the time I just want the quest to be over. It is pretty useless though when capping a low rank Ludroth or Gobul. Thank you for your input!

  • If you need to cap a monster, give one of your shakalalas (spelling, i know) a pitfall mask. (only if you are hunting w/ two). It allows your little guy to become a pitfall trap in 10 seconds. Best part is, if the monster moves to another area, you can signal again, and he will become normal again. Aka, a movable pitfall trap. You can only use him once, but that's all you need to capture a monster

  • I LOVE the pitfall mask. I agree with all of the technical stuff you listed as well. Although it can be an annoying wait for them to recharge. Its ten minutes right? Doesn't matter I still love that mask!
