I am new to monster hunter and I was wondering if there was a method to knowing where certain materials are.

  • It's just something that comes with experience. If you are having trouble though, i recommend this website www.kiranico.com it has info on where all items are, quests, weapons, armor, maps, etc. I use it regularly, it's a very good site. You should definitely give it a try. \(^_^)/

  • One thing to note, though - Kiranico, while it is good, doesn't always have the information correctly (99% of the time it's correct). Something to note, too - when you're looking at a weapon, and Kiranico says there's an element to it, yet in-game you see nothing, that means it has that element when you have a certain skill activated (not mentioning it because of spoilers).

  • lol thats why there are solid circles and empty circles silly :p. a solid circle means it has an active element, empty circle means you need a skill to activate it

  • @Sasiku for the longest time I was irritated about that because I went to look at Kiranico and was like, "Oh, sweet, this weapon has this element I need!" then I look at the game and am about to make the weapon but I didn't see an element... I didn't know about that until I learned about 'free element'
