  It sounds like you're going melee. What I'd suggest to you, since you can't quite keep up with him yet, is to go gunner, and get some ice resistance on your armor. Try to use a fire element (or thunder if you can't), and exhaust coating/bullets. Just keep your distance and watch carefully, maybe just dodge around and study his movements for a bit. Good luck!

  fire is a definite. but to slow him down a bit, use traps to get in some good hits. after he is fatigued, use any of the trap meats, paralysis especially works wonders to slow him down

  utilizing melee, though, his biggest weakness is stamina. yeah he attacks fast and often but he tires out badly, due to his low stamina recovery. till then you just kind of have to hit and run: wait for opening (with weapon sheathed), sprint in, single, quick hit then dodge, find opening to sheath weapon again, rinse repeat (lot of running). GOOD LUCK!

  you can also try flash bombing him out of the air, if he stays up long enough.
