    Yeah, I am amazed any of us who grew up in the 1980's are still playing video games. The difficulty of those games would drive off most modern gamers. I'll be honest if it weren't for restore points I wouldn't be able to play old school games today.

    We have been saturated with such gratuitous and self-pleasing games. In the past, the actual playing and progressing in the game was the reward. I am still abusing restore points like crazy though lol.

    I am kind of amazed the original Contra isn't on Wii U VC. I was going to purchase the original first. But not if I have to go through that ugly Wii menu to play it.

    My only gripe about the Wii U is that the Wii Virtual Console Store and Wii U eshop are separate. Nintendo must have lost the publishing rights to most of those VC games, and they probably may only remain on the Wii console until new legal agreements are made. IMO, it's a blunder that Nintendo didn't clear all that up to make every single VC game available to purchase on the esop on day one.

    It is a huge mess up. Because I WILL NOT open that stupid Wii menu under any circumstance. It looks stupid, it is dumb, it is cumbersome, and I want no part of it. Try again, Nintendo.

    I reluctantly accept it.Where else can I play Tecmo Bowl :) and the .99 cent "upgrade" is really just a surcharge to get off screen play, save states and of course miiverse. I will probably have to buy Blades of Steel and Bubble Bobble Deluxe. I'm playing alot of Mario Galaxy 2 and New Super Mario Wii, so I'm in wii mode alot even if my mii status says 'been playing internet'. lol.

    Yeah, I have re-purchased all my "upgrades" just to get them on my Wii U menu, except for two games, a Kirby and Street Fighter Alpha 2. The only game I checked for recently was LoZ: Majora's Mask. I had this crazy craving to play it (never have before).

    I find the box art for 1st party Nintendo games to be exceptional (bright clors, awesome srtwork, etc.), and highly collectible since digital downloads seem to be the future of gaming. The pyhsical copies will become even more rare and more collectible.

    Congratulations. You've taken your first step into a larger world. :-) But seriously, get Contra on the SNES. It's amazing, and no Contra game since has toppled it yet. One of my absolute favourites!
