    The only valid reason for Lucina and Dark Pit being their own characters is more alt. specials. Otherwise, I only find them as different as Alph from Olimar. And I kinda still dislike Dr. Mario's return.

    Remember what Sakurai said though, development time for them was almost nonexistant, they were alt-costumes that he wanted to give a slightly different spin on the moveset, so he conjured up a new slot for them and made those moveset adjustments over lunch break. They didn't take time away from making non-clones at all.

    To be honest I was really surprised at just how many people were disappointed by IC being cut, I had no idea they even had a following. Besides, Smash 4 has that new 1 second rule with grabbing, eliminating the IC's main combative appeal.
