    You do the Restricted Items glitch by setting an item you can use anywhere (a bottle, Zelda's letter, etc.) to the x or y button. Go to the items menu and switch it with an item you can't use anywhere (Farore's Wind, etc.) and IMMEDIATELY after you exit the item menu, press the button you assigned the item to. You only get a fraction of a second to use the item, so it may take quite a few tries.
