It's impossible to get the song of time without obtaining the ocarina of time; however, it is possible to skip getting the fairy ocarina, get the ocarina of time, and then get the fairy ocarina. Doing this will not erase the song of time from your learned songs.

@ bat: You have to do several glitches... Basically, you escape the forest without getting the fariy ocarina, do a navi dive at lake hylia to get into zora's domain early, get bomchus from jabu jabu's belly (only in the master quest) and use the bombchus to get into dodongo's cavern (because you need an ocarina to get the goron bracelet)...

Now you might be thinking that I'm insane, because this is crazy... But it is possible. If you want to try doing it at some point, I can give you details on how to actually do it, but be warned, it will require some work, as it's not super easy.

...And it's fun just to play the game normally before trying to mess around. I'm not trying to discredit the game or anything; I just enjoy doing glitches because after I've completed the game a million times, it gives me a new way to enjoy it and challenge myself.
