    The IVs, nature, gender, and the PID of the pokemon are all determined on obtaining the egg. The OT name, ID, and secret ID are determined on hatching the egg, which means shininess is technically determined on hatch as well.

    Of course, it doesn't mean that you can soft hatching an egg for the chance of a shiny. It just means that an egg that would hatch a normal pokemon for you might hatch shiny for someone else.
