    35 selectable characters, but technically Brawl has 40 characters because Ivysaur, Squirtle, Charizard, Shiek, and Zero-Suit Samus.

    Thank you all. Now if I remember correctly Sakurai first stated that the same number of Brawl characters would be in the new Smash. So doing the math could give you how many characters are left to reveal.
