Can someone please explain the move mat block? The description says it should protect my pokemon from physical attacks. So I thought it would work like protect with the turn based working mechanism.

    it cant block status moves like will-o-wisp, thunder wave

    I know it doesn't stop status moves. I don't understand the success rate of the move. If you use it once, WHEN can you use it again? I've lost online because I couldn't depend on it.
