I loved (and I mean LOVED) Symphony of the Night... It was with THAT title which coined the genre "Metroidvania"... when really "Simon's Quest" should be considered the ORIGINAL "Metroidvania", no?!..

    Except Symphony of the Night is fun, and Simon's Quest isn't. But then, the original Metroid isn't ver fun, either- especially compared to Super Metroid.

    Yes, MUCH more akin to Zelda 2. If only by virtue of Towns, NPC's, merchants, and currency. Personally, I love this game!

    Simon's Quest isn't the first non-linear Castlevania game, that title belongs to Vampire Killer. Vampire Killer is pretty mediocre, though, so Simon's Quest is the first good non-linear one.
