If they released Event pokemon the same way as they do Skylanders or Disney Infinity [Figure w/code] in addition to normal events what would you do?

No, Game Freak promised never to make you pay. The Pokemon Company [the company that does the pokemon swag] was created to monetize pokemon and made no such promise. They say so in interviewd
