    Iv stands 4 Individual Value. a pokemon with max[6] Iv will have increses to all their stats

    IVs are randomized numbers that affect the stats of a pokemon. they're decided as soon as you get the egg if your breeding and as soon as you see it if its a wild pokemon

    there are ways to calculate them (serebii has a calculator for it) though you need to know the pokemons EVs. theres also ways to pass IVs from either parent to the child

    It's possible to have perfect IVs for all stats, but competitively pokemon with 4 or or 5 perfect IVs are just as viable

    Dont bother going for a 6IV pokemon unless you plan on using it while breeding as they are incredibly hard to get compared to 5Iv pokemon
