    With the right skills, yes. Different blocking weapon types have different block strength. Lance and GL are strongest, SnS is weakest. Different attacks have different strnegth

    Some attacks, like Agnaktor's fire beam, cannot be blocked unless you have the Guard Up skill. Some attacks can be blocked without Guard Up, but you need Guard+1 or +2 to be able to block it.
