    When hit by an attack that you can absorb, you absorb the attack automatically. Once you have one, then by using the ability in battle, you can use any genome you have absorbed.

    It just happens. You get hit by the attack and boom it's yours to use now.

    You can figure out which abilities you can absorb from D's Journal. In the Bestiary, monsters with < "name of attack" > in their descriptions are attacks you can absorb. A few bosses also have Genomes

    Only if you are in the vampire job or have the drain Genome ability equipped, ( the attacks that can be absorbed have <___> around them in D's journal)
