    Level up your jobs and more abilities (some of which are support abilities) will become available. Also, you will get more ability slots as you progress through the plot.

    Keep in mind that each job also has a specific support ability that remains in effect as long as you are in that job. Like Monk's Knuckle Lore or White Mage's Self-Healing.

    you learn support ability by leveling up.. and as you progress through the story you gain new slots for more powerfull support abilities
