Blue means that the blob will circle around the screen and occasionally exit the shield to be damaged. When chosen the color, it is purple in battle.

And cyan is my least favorite. The blob will repeatedly exit and enter the force field, making a tricky target to shoot. When this color is chosen, it is white in battle.
