Some of the reason I think they did not release this, is in japan it came out right after zelda. well they are similar in play style and it may have caused product confusion here. or could be they could have felt it was to hard for the american gamer.

I think it might've been too "Japanese". I doubt that the average American kid in the '80s would know about tanukis, onis, etc..

  • On one hand, you may be right about this game being too japanses, on the other hand, ninja where big back in the day thanks to TMNT, and thay could have edited some of the to japanses stuff... I don't know, I'm on the fence on it.

  • Being I was a kid when this game would have came out, I would have loved this game. it would have been a nintendo classic. But at least we get it now.

The Ninja Turtles were still undoubtedly American. They may have taught kids about samurai, nunchuks, sais, and shuriken, but they lived in New York, at pizza, and used extensive '80s American slang.

  • Yeah, that's why I'm on the fence. On one hand, it may have been to much Japan, on the other foot, the kiddies may not have minded if thay got to fight ninja. We put up with a lot of weird stuff back in the day. Has any one fondout what Kirby is supposed to be, yet?

  • Kirby's first game originally wasn't going to star him at all. He started as a placeholder sprite of a smiley face with arms and legs for a game called "Twinkle Popopo". The development team eventually became too attached to the placeholder to remove it in favor of a more detailed sprite, so they decided to keep Popopo as he was. One name change later (plus a bit of pink), and Kirby was born!
