    We're not allowed to share friend codes on 3DS, which leads me to think that we can't ask to be friends on Wii U.

    In a bizarre twist in reality it is actually ok to ask people to be friends on Wii U. Now if you pester them with multiple posts and comments or ask them without even knowing them then no probably not
