data for short acquired! Short did exactly 3 notches for the 1HP sub, which is nice, solid data.

so, thus far, we have 2X, 2X-1, and X. at some point we need to unify these equations. I guess I'll just have to get results with every HP level, and then we can find math.

Long does 3.5 to a 3HP sub. that's 1.75 normal. hrmm... let me hop in a 2 HP sub and see this pattern...

comes up to a fraction of 13/7X. would rather confirm with long torp data, which is confirmed as 2, a nice, solid integer.

long did 3.75 on my 2HP sub. comes out as 1.875X 2x, 1.875, 1.75... a pattern is appearing... 16/8, 15/8, 14/8...how much you wanna bet 4HP is gonna be 13/8?

OH MY GOD what if the formula for 5HP ISN'T 2X-1? maybe it's 1.5X? it would explain my report of shoirt being a hair over 2...it'd come up as 2.25.

then again, these patterns could be restricted to just the torps I got them from. long keeps coming up as Y/8, med keeps coming up as Y/7, and short as Y/5

I like to keep this post in a easy-access place. anyway, Harry, since you already have seemingly definitive figures for how many torpedos (torpedoes?) it takes to sink a sub with Χ HP, could you begin research on HP boosts? I've grown lax in my research, but I hope to resume passive studies again shortly. Which, sadly, means I'll have to depart from my beloved U-boat...at least the stats on it, an

I can't handle boost. That would require exact number of subs w/ exact kind of torpedoes. Impossible to get in the wild. It ain't math formula we're talking here. ;) Besides, I'm about to start researching submerge and dive speed. I'm curious as to what effect, if any, submerge speed has in relation to dive speed.

while you're at it, could you note if straight diving is any faster, or slower, than the initial dive? when my sub reaches the peak of its dive/surface angle, it seems to slow down. would it be faster to dive, level out, and dive again, or to just dive straight down?

That would require some strict timing that I'm not prepared to do. As much as I'm interested in the answers, I don't think I can do that. Sorry. Instinct, however, tells me that rhythmic dive won't be any faster because you still have to go through slower speeds in order to level.
