If you've ever been in a game where the sub jumped all over the place in various orientation, please let me know by posting here. This is hacking. This is different from lag, where it's just a time distortion where the sub went forward or backward a little along the way.

If you shot at the sub multiple times, then it clearly went outside the window of sync data packet, thus a hack rather than lag.

Usually it is 5-20 seconds, I'd say. But I have seen someone with the possessed sub flying around for at least a minute before. I eventually just swam away and figured I'd deal with him later. When he was the last one left, he was still doing it in about the same location. The next match the same guy played and he exhibited traditional lagging symptoms (short sub jump, etc.)

Tools have been available since the days of Quake-bots. It's easy for bored young minds to just mess around with some simple network games. Why not? They don't care about actual game. They're not being hurt. The only victims are players other than themselves.

It's intentional lagging in order to cheat. Use homing torpedoes. Stars don't cheat.

I don't understand your second-to-last-comment. Please explain. The way you presented it, I'm confused. Why would shooting at a sub multiple times mean they're hacking?

It means the event happened longer than 5 seconds interval and thus not accidental data corruption, but intentional ones.

Kevin: The jumps are so severe that sometimes it wont lock, or the sub went into a wall, and the torpedo hit the wall.

i've only seen the subs just [warp] when i had bad wi-fi i've never really seen 1 with me and good wi-fi. 4 me i guess it just can't continue the signal so it lags and [warps]

Last night my Friend from real life were playing. Me VS him and a Garfish. SwimmingPool. The match started, and about 2 seconds in i Froze. Controlls were un-responcive, i didn't move, for 5 seconds. Then it was fine but it said my friend sunk but he was still there and he says it said on his 3DS i sunk! We were both fine! Then i fired at the Garfish and he left but it said Victory but-

-My on my friend's 3DS it said Victory! ...We both won...? The Garfish must be a HACKER. It was WorldWide Random.

I still don't understand your torpedo comment, Harry. I only said homing torpedoes eventually took the guy down. I didn't say how often I fired them, if I was the only one firing them, or if I waited for them to land before firing another. Still don't understand how me firing multiple torpedoes at someone means they're hacking. Something's getting lost in translation.

That's right. 5 seconds is the sync window. There is some code that deals with bad network packets. So the game decides that it's best to declare win situation for the people involved. That's not conclusive proof of hacking. Maybe, maybe not.

Klim. Never mind then. You said they never win. But that's not true in all situations. On my last one, I actually lost, despite successfully hitting him 12 times. 10 times w/ normal torps, and 2 times with homings.

I never thought the hackers had gotten to some 3ds games already. I guess it's time to suit up!

Im not sure but i believe people intentionally place themselves where they can step in and out of good wifi reception in order to perform the trick.

You mean Faraday cage? That may explain the lag. That doesn't explain sync problems. Or the ability to send large morse code text very, very quickly.

You don't think lagging would cause sync issues....I don't know. I know I've seen what you are talking about. Subs freakishly sinking through the floor in the pool.

Lagging issues will be limited to 5 sec window. If the sub does indeed sink deep in the pool, then most likely it's a hack using deep sea data (i.e Trench), instead of pool data.
