I was using SnakeHead. Forward speed and backward speed is 11.3 and 8.0 respectively. Yet, I've found that it takes twice as long to go backward than it is to go forward. Shouldn't the speed be 16/8 or 11.3/5.7. 2/1 ratio? Can someone explain this to me?

  • well, the speed gauge hardly matters at all. you can be in a sub with a 6 submerged speed stat (like my sentoku I-400) and hit 10.1. it seems that the game is using an inconsistent measurement unit here.

  • at a speed stat of 9, the standard snakehead does 10.9-only eight tenths more than a speed stat of 6. yet the I-400 is noticeably slower than the snakehead in-game. game makes no sense, would need more data.

  • for instance, my speed stat of 1 black eel has a top submerged speed of 8.7 kinda high for something with a speed stat of 1.

  • from speed stat of 1 to 10: 8.7,9.1,9.3,9.6,9.9,10.1,10.4,10.6,10.8,and 11.1. that's just what the game tells me, going straight forward, no dive angle.

  • Well, I guess somebody needs to do practical testing. A ridiculously boring job. Any volunteer? :)

  • q_q simplest way seems to be to measure the time it takes to move from one side of a large map grid box to the other side of it. maybe later. q_q

  • Doesn't have to be too large. Hot Spring and swimming pool come to mind.

  • well, I meant the area map. should've said area map. anyway, I was thinking more along the lines of... the tutorial level.

  • Oh. OK. It just need to be consistent. Tutorial levels is certainly a good idea.

  • Backward speed is consistent half forward speed, regardless of what the gauge says.

  • ok. this is good to know. maybe speed could be useful for matching speed with teammates. as an actual speed gauge, though? not so much.
