    When trown, it flies to the person in first place at that time. It doesn't help to drop to second place. :(

    I know the above statement is incorrect, but I'm unsure exactly when it locks on. I've definitely been in first when it was thrown, and then had someone pass me, the blue shell hitting them instead.

    The blue shell targeted Luigi in this picture even though he was in second place. He took first place after the blue shell was used, and I reclaimed first place with a mushroom.

    Still, for what I've experienced so far, the blue shell locks on first racer, unless when the second racer is very close, it might depend. Then again, I'm playing a lot of MK 7 too. Maybe there's a difference.
