Nothing to say about Red Bull. They're second-best, they'll finish second-best. On the other hand, there's a lot to say about McLaren. They looked good at Silverstone, and I THINK they're good in the rain. So I put them fairly high up. I guess Force India should do alright. I've heard that banning FRIC will help them, but I don't know. They haven't voted against banning it, though, so maybe.

As for Ferrari, well, Kimi will probably be even more out of form than usual, meanwhile Alonso, as usual, will do something incredible in that terrible car, which ought to be even worse in the rain.

I'm very happy with that prediction :D By the way there really is a lot of rain here in Germany since June. A rain race should be very likely.

Only one thing: Jenson Button usually has major problem to get temperature in his tires, so I wouldn't bet on him at a cold rain race.

@Toeni: Hmm... good analysis, thanks! Sadly I can't change it now. (Also, was my German correct? I know there's more than one word for "the", but I think I used the right one. I probably should have written "Großer" instead of "Grosser" as well.)

Your German was good, I liked it but it's a strange language. Either prediction für 'Der Große Preis von Deutschland 2014' or prediction für den Großen Preis von Deutschland 2014. German is weird. Like most Germans I don't know the most forms of our Simple Past because we don't use it in daily life. We use Present Perfect, it is wrong though.

OK, so not too bad. Odd, though, I've always seen it as "Grosser Preis" or "Großer Preis". I can't help but wonder why English uses the French term "Grand Prix" when other languages translate it, like "Große Preis" in German, "Gran Premio" in Spanish, "Nagydij" in Hungarian, etc.

I've just done some testing with Google Translate. When I first wrote those comments I tried putting "Grand Prix" in and it didn't translate because the term is French to start with. Then I tried "Grand Prize", the technical English translation, and it came out as "Hauptpreis". So I got curious after I wrote that last reply and tried translating "Large Prize", a more casual way of saying it.

Strange :D In Germany we use the french term Grand Prix, too. The German term is 'Großer Preis' indeed but only without an article before.

Ah, so when the FIA call it "Grosser/Großer Preis von Deutschland" They're just being overly proper.

@firetruck: Yeah, that's how it's pronounced in French. Because, you know, French is weird. I hope no one actually pronounces it "Priks".

Uh-oh... the forecast's been changed. Now there's only supposed to be rain on race day, not quali or practice. This might be horribly wrong.

Now most sources seem to be saying that there won't be any rain during the race. Oh well. I'll be wrong, but at least Williams should be strong. Kimi's looking decent as well, in a respectable position for FP3 considering he retired from the session early. Vettel looks shaky, he's constantly going off at turn 1. And Rosberg is at least proving me right in something, beating Lewis consistently.
