ĦSweetWater: You are who you associate with. Like it or not, your friends define you. It may not be fair or accurate, but it's easy to be influenced by the behavior of people around you.

  • That's why when a group of people get together, they have group motto, group activity, group friends, group leader, etc. The leader is the most influential factor of them all. If you want to join a group, take a look at the leader.

  • Can you trust a person with your life? Does he help the unfortunate? Does he take criticism well? Does he force his opinion onto others? Does he let others have opinion? Does he practice what he preach? Does he pretend to be more of a person than he actually is? Does he behave with honor, or does he like to do things that hurts people? Does he have double standard?

  • Sometimes, it can be very difficult to recognize honorable people because truly honorable people don't go around telling other people they're honorable! In fact, dishonorable people would often claim that they are honorable people. When asked who told them they're honorable, they invariably answer "ourselves" or ignore the question. Honor cannot be claimed. Respect must be earned.

  • If the leader is hidden, take a look at the behavior of his people. True leader will lead justly and fairly, and will not let his people do what he himself will not do.

  • Also take a look at their general attitude. At the simplest is the question "Is the glass half empty or half full?". Taking it further, "Is that how they view other people?" and "Are they forcing other people to conform with their view?" Peace can be gained via understanding and tolerance.

  • I always try to encourage honor and not running from a fight.. Sadly, I can not control their central nervous system. And if their behavior is not good I ask them directly, why...

  • That is true, people do assume you are like the people in the group you're in. But let me ask everyone this, does it really matter what people think? As long as you do the right thing it doesn't matter. Take Jesus for example. He loved and visited with the worst people, but not because he was like them. Jesus associated with these people to minister to them and show them they were loved.

  • We should allways do the right thing no matter what people may think. :)
