A lot of people would just send HELP, when they're in trouble. What is needed, is HELP followed by their location. Usually, though, it takes a long time to get there, they won't survive, anyway.

There's a group of people that would send HELP, just because they think it's fun to joke around. I will block those people. They may think they're making a joke, but all they do is offend people. This is the point of The Boy who Cried Wolf.

Sometimes, some people express desire for voice chat. But I disagree. It takes too much bandwidth. Also, there's a problem in listening to 8 different voices all at once. Since people don't have discipline in communication, it will all just results in noise.

SDSW is a contemplative FPS. We don't need distractions in communications. How many times do we need to hear some immature players brag that they're good, anyway? It gets thin after a while. It's also annoying when people hurls insults all over and blame the world when they lose. It's better to just not have voice chat altogether.

What's surprising is that people haven't push Morse code to its maximum potential. I was sure that by now, some people would have gotten together, and decided a compact form of communication. The game already hinted that broadcasting your location in the beginning of the game is a good idea. I'm somewhat disappointed that the shortcut does not feature automatic location text.

I have been using Spy for quite a long time, and I have yet to encounter these kind of communication. I thought it's kind of obvious to agree on these kind of communication. The examples I've shown you is just standard comm.

Of course, your group may want to add more comm. HEAL, WAIT, GO, STAY CLOSE, TARGET (name) Those are comms that's useful to have. It would be nice if MC shortcut does enemy name, location macro as well.

But we do the best we can with what we have. No sense in complaining too much. Making noise is not the same as communication. Until then, stay calm and see you in the water.

Update: In Friend mode where there's a clear leader, you may also decide on formation communication. LINE UP, V FORMATION, T FORMATION, FLANK ATTACK, and so on.

It might not be worth mentioning, but, in-game, when using morse code, you can visually see people use it, represented by a blue dot on top of the conning tower. If you're REALLY good with morse code, you can decipher this without spy-a nice ability to have.

It's worth mentioning. More appropriate for Spy section, though. ;) Thanks for letting me know.
