How come the Hunter/Huntress is left handed when using 1 handed/small weapons, but right handed when using 2 handed/large weapons?

  • Well, in the case of Sword & Shield, the sword is in the left hand to leave the right hand open for item use, since Sword & Shield lets you use items while unsheathed (by pressing Y while blocking). Not sure about Lance and Gunlance though.

  • In response to Comment A: The Hunter can use his left hand for item use. And in respnse to Comment B: You try swinging a sword in you least dominant hand, that stuff is HARD!

  • I have. I take martial arts, and I do know how difficult it is to do. Ambidextrous means both your hands are dominant.

  • Yeah... The whole "Anyone can use their leasr dominant hand with ease" thing, my left hand can barely HOLD a pencil properly... Yeah, I only use it for using the left half of a controller/keyboard.

  • basically it must be because the right hand have more resistance to the hits that the left hand, (lance, gunlance) and the sns can bash till knockout monsters, if you see the other weapons you can see a right hand use, just a theory but sounds a good answer for a question i never made :)

  • It's done that way from a technical viewpoint. Regardless of what weapon is in use the item is used in the right hand. The most notable example would be sharpening your weapon. The weapon is always held in the left hand while the right hand is sharpening the weapon. Wouldn't make sense to sharpen a shield. So instead of making different animations they just swapped hands the weapon is used in.

  • That also explains why the shields are only strapped to the forearm, and not held by the hand. Because of item use. It's easier, and more efficient to just use the same item animation for all weapons rather than having to develop a second item use animation for only three weapons.

  • it's hard to hold stuff like pens and pencils with your non dominant hand because we're not use to it also fun fact 1 i'm right handed and i wrote this with my left hand 2 a good majority of the us presidents where left handed
