  • we do not speak its name here.....

  • Hey, it may be bad comparing it to the Mario game, but as a stand–alone movie, it's not bad.

  • i guess so

I always have fun watching it. Love the set design (especially coming from the era when movies had to have actual physical sets).

  • Oh, someone who leans towards more "nostalgic" movies?

I don't watch a whole lot of movies (despite having a bachelor's degree in film), but I really like when movies aren't like the Star Wars prequels, pretty much.

  • The prequels are just one big mess of CGI....

That said, there's a lot of good use of CGI out there. Finally saw Life of Pi the other day; those animals were amazing, and couldn't possibly work w/o CGI

  • Well, it's nice that CGI makes things realistic, but it's bothers me knowing everything is done via computer. There's no mystery of how they did "this" or "that."

The excessive CGI in the prequels wouldn't have been a problem if done right. Action sequences should have discernible action and motivation, not just a bunch of stuff thrown up to fill the screen.

    Yeahs0
  • It also needs to SHOW effort. I've done CGI before, and granted, it's not easy, but it's simpler to use computer effects than make Godzilla move as stop-motion.

Yeah, lack of mystery too. Occasionally there's something in a movie where I'm not sure if it was real or not, but most of the time, even when the CGI looks really good, you still just know it's CG.
