I've never tried it, but you can use the nunchuck to play also, i'm sure it's just as uncomfortable as much as the wii remote.

if u guys wanna play brawl on wii u or smash wii u go chek on ebay GC mayflash convertor its like an adaptor u plug into ur wimote and to your GC contrler and it think its a classic pro so u can play
