I'm ok with the rules, but here's a suggestion: Why not make a friend-code community just for that, and anyone under 13 won't be allowed to use it (like the Phoenix Wright community).
Yeah, right. Nintendo is awesome, and they're just trying to make sure there users are safe. Geez, peeps! I'm enjoying Miiverse so far, and I think I'll continue.
I get that there are plenty of places to exchange FCs, but this one should be the main one, since it's a NINTENDO'S SOCIAL NETWORK. Come on Nintendo, don't screw this.
This is an absolutely stupid policy. I love Nintendo, and I love the 3DS and Wii U, but this unnecessarily rule restricts the fans (who aren't just children) from making 3DS friends.
but maybe Nintendo should just improve upon how people make friends on 3ds! then hey look they don't need to use other services to accomplish such a simple yet very important to gaming!
[Theory]:Remember what happened from the last time when Nintendo sent us a notification about Swapnote? It probably also might affect Miiverse for that.
We don't have any other options to even communicate with other 3DS users, so it would be really nice to be able to have the convenience of exchanging FCs.
This isn't gona stop people, they will continue to find ways to shaee the FCs on or off Miiverse. People will always break this rule untill it meets the same fate as swapnote...
If users are posting friend codes for the public to see, that's them and their parent's responsibility. It's at OUR risk, not yours Nintendo. If you can't control your products, stop trying.
Its not like we can do anything, even if we do give fc's away, it wont do any harm Isnt this why we have social games, why else would these wonderful nintendo creators of created a Friend Code?

Not everyone on Miiverse is a child. Restricting these sort of features for children is perfectly fine, but restricting them for people over the age of 13 is completely counterintuitive.
I agree with Dolly, nintendo just want their fans to be safe while playing games. I don't understand why people are making such big deals outta this. Besides rules are rules, you shouldn't break them.
I've probably reported at least 80 or so people for posting friend codes in the last couple days, and I'll continue to do so. Online communities that don't enforce their rules go down the toilet.
While I respect the company's right to restrict their service as they please, Nintendo is really wasting the potential of Miiverse with these draconian rules.

I like how Wii U Chat is more of a threat than anything on Miiverse right now. Also why is it that Wii U players can send friend requests to anyone on Miiverse, but that's 100% illegal on the 3DS?
It's not hard getting a FC from a gaming forum, it only takes a search engine for it-- for you grown people. Plus on forums, I can check their rating. Miiverse just want kids to be safe.
Absolutely ridiculous. Make this mandatory for those with parentl settings or under age 13. Dont penalize everyone for using a legitimate feature! What a waste of potential...
Pokémon was created for the sole purpose of meeting & interacting with fellow players of the game, thus making friends in the process. For you to neglect such a traditional ideal is very hypocritical.

Seriously, the worst one can do is send an inappropriate Swapnote. And that's been taken care of. Wii U chat can be restricted by parental controls. Nintendo needs to calm their butts and/or faces.
Being aloud (or not) to share your friend code should be up to the person's parents. It's not Nintendo's responsibility. Besides, what's the worst we could do with a simple friend code?
Nintendo is too tightbutted with its regulations, these 'rules' are a tad bit too much. Not all 3DS owners are children, this really makes Miiverse disfunctional if there isn't much of a point to it.
They took away the ability to privatly chat with anyone so sharing a freind code does absolutely nothing but allow more people to play games with. Playing with randoms only is lame.
3DS users. You've been given a small taste of what Miiverse is like. It's much better on Wii U. It's also much easier to make and follow friends. It's time to upgrade to Wii U, folks.
If we can't exchange fc's then there really is no point in having one in the first place. I have no local friends (that have 3DS), all my 3DS bfs are from the internet.
3ds users are getting literally screwed over in many ways wii u users get to do alot more stuff on miiverse like for Example they can put stickers on their posts for acnl and mario and 3ds users cant

Personally, I can see both sides of the story. As long as the "friends" are responsible, there should be no problem. Unfortunately, you can't trust kids, or even adults, to do that.
agreed to, nobody is forcing you to use miiverse, just leave if you dont like the rules. otherwise don't complain about rules that you yourself agreed to, even if you did not read them yourself...
Will the Spotspass feature of Swapnote return? Will there be a private message option or some way to play with Miiverse users? Please let users of any age group have fun.
Nintendo, please start treating your paying customers like adults. Many of your customers are adults. So far this 3DS version of Miiverse has not impressed me.
Nintendo needs to stop trampling their own work. They make games that encourage having tons of friends, then disallow trading codes. And it makes even less sense when you consider that miiverse is 13+
Most players are adults such as myself. Yes kids play the 3DS, but they should make restrictions on kids with parental controls such as posting your friend code online.
