    I have been wondering the same thing and I think they are for hunting, which I believe is Katts ability... but I am not sure :(

    When you see one .. definitely enter it. As it gives u an opportunity to hunt for high replenishing items that can also be sold for a lot of zennies. ... but only if u hav Bo [early in game] or Katt.

    There's hunting and fishing [Ryu only] in this game which serves the same purpose. But fishing also grants a chance to catch exclusive weapons and armor.

    Place Bow or Katt as the head of the party by pressing L / R and then press Y to activate Bow's arrows or Katt's staff attack on unsuspecting boar, bear, bird ... watch out for blue spikey heads.
