I enjoyed Castlevania 2: Simon's Quest. A very underrated game! It dared to be different then any game out there, even today. It may had flaws but it's still A underappreciated gem of A game.

  • yeah, agreed. It was also the first Castlevania game I ever played and the game that got me hooked on the Castlevania series.

  • Was the first one I was able to beat. And the only one until the age of metroidvanias arrived. *sigh* Good times.

  • Yeah, good times. Konami should bring this Castlevania style back.

  • Totally agree, just like Zelda II. Gets a lot of flak but theyre both very goid despite some flaws.

  • I feel like this was the precursor to Castlevania SOTN. They both have the rpg elments as well as being side scrollers. I think SOTN was the first game that went in this direction since Simon's Quest if I am not mistaken. Anyway I agree a very much underrated classic, I used to rent this all the time as a kid.

  • Yeah, I believe it was the precursor to what SOTN became as well gameplay wise. The RPG elements, the side-scrolling, and collecting items, SOTN feels like the perfected version of what this game was trying to do. Despite this games flaws, I feel this game was fun to play and is A underappreciated classic. I still replay this game more than I do the 1st NES one actually.

  • You wanna hear a funny story? I hated SOTN at first. I thought they were doing the right thing with the game but it was too short. Little did I know and you have to admit this is before everyone had internet, I killed Richter and was like thats it, really thats it? Well it was until one of my freinds in high school said you need the goggles to see whats controlling him.

  • I know its kinda off topic but needless to say I played the heck out of that game after I discovered the second half, trying to find every secret in the inverted castle as well as the regular castle. It is now a classic along with Simon's Quest. In my opinion at least.

  • Cool story! I figured out about the second part too after I thought Richter was the final boss. I was like that was it, what anti-climatic end, then I found out about the second part and it was like A whole new game. I was making sure to find everything I could in the game after that, lol!
