    If you have a WiiU as well you can use the LAN adapter and Packet Relay Tool app to send the 3DS online, otherwise it's local only.

    i dont have wii u version, i was hoping capcom woyld have made 3ds multiplayer with preset chat messages, that would have covered most situations

    sadly, only the wiiu has the online function. i'd recommend getting some friends hooked like mine did to me.

    You don't need the WiiU version,just a WiiU. You have to remember that MH3U was made in 2011 for Japan, early in the 3DS's life, and it's popular enough in Japan that they don't need online.

    It's a wireless connection. but because the WiiU's wireless is being used for the 3Ds you need a wireless adapter to connect the WiiU to the internet.
