    You really can't think of MH in typical MMO terms. There is no heavy/tank class. You can upgrade your defense, but it's better to avoid hits all together.

    Focus is a great armor skill for bows, as are element skills like Fire Atk and shot skills like Normal/Pierce/Pellet Up. General damage skills like Attack and skills like Evade always help.

    I've heard a lot of people stick with Great Jaggi armor up until they hit high rank quests. It has good stats.
