You don't need to, Audie. :) The maximum EMS needed to attain the 'best' ending is 3,100. The war asset you accumulate is 6,000+ and at 50% galactic readiness, you'll easily attain 3,100. :)

The ending when Shepard lives does not need online play. The Extended Cut brings that ending requirement down to 3,100.
