    The series is as popular over there as Call of Duty is in America. Between that and Japan's high population density there's no need for online. Japan buys the most Monster Hunter, so they matter more.

    None of the portable MH games before MH4 had online. We'll be getting MH4U early next year and it will have built-in online for the 3DS.

    If you have a Wii U you can also download an application called MH3U relay point. It allows you to use online on 3DS without needing a copy of the game for Wii U.
