Upset over Nintendo's decision on Tomodachi Life. They say LGBT representation is "bowing to pressure." Actually only having straight couples is a form of homophobia & de-moralizes gay Nintendo fans.

Sam, I cannot post where I read the quote because the Miiverse admins will likely delete the comment. But I read it as an official response to a media request in my country.

"The publisher of such gaming franchises as The Legend of Zelda and Mario Bros. said Tuesday it wouldn't 'bow to pressure' to allow players to engage in romantic activities..."

That doesn't sound like an official statement to me. Read my post for the full statement issued by Nintendo, not twisted words by the media.

Where did you get that source of info? Because it's pretty bad to twist the truth like that and upsetting LGB gamers. Aka they are the real bad guys here.

The fact is, Nintendo said this game is an alternate reality apart from real-life. But in their alternate reality, the only relationships are straight. That's offensive & oudated.

If they're concerned about mature subject matter for kids, they should have omitted relationships as a whole & concentrated on friendships instead.

Media credibility aside, it's worrisome that Nintendo chose to emphasize a kind of relationship over another. I find it disturbing because it seems like they're caving

Also he didn't say heterosexual relationships were offensive. But the comments by nintendo are.

to a very primitive and narrow definition of "family." I would have hoped that in 2014, Nintendo could have made more strides in inclusivity than they have been doing.

Everyone deserves equal representation. All relationships no matter the identity. If Nintendo was worried about "conservative" elements, then they should have done friendships instead.

Ok.... I'm out. It's an old game that's only just been localised and people have only just made a fuss. They've recognised that but it's too late.

I wouldn't say Nintendo chose one relationship over the other. They just did what would cause the least amount of controversy. Most games don't allow gay marriage, and while I'm sure that will change

in the near future, Nintendo just defaulted to the norm to avoid possible bad publicity. Sure, it'd be nice if they went AGAINST the norm, but these are the times we live in.
