is there a way to play 2 player without having to swap the pad, cause thats just horrible design, completely ruins the multiplayer

    Actually, yes! I have a WiiU pro controller my friend uses, and I use the gamepad. Not sure if it works with other controllers (try a wiimote & nunchuck), but it is possible and works just like you'd expect
