Just watched ABrandonToThePast's video on how pokemon could be aliens. When seeing this, I thought about how it is WAY more likely that WE are the aliens. And if so, PMD would take place in an alternate dimension where humans never came in mass amounts, and Palkia turned you into a pokemon and sent you there, because even legends need a good laugh every once in a while.
