Is it just me, or do level 9 CPUs not seem as tough as past games in the demo? At least 1-on-1.

    THAT is why "For Glory" mode exists...you can fight against humans who are stronger than LVL 9 CPU.

    They seem to be a lot more defensive now. They block and roll constantly. Good practice anyway.

    I don't know from nuts-and-bolts programming, but maybe the 3DS can't do fancy graphics and tricky AI at the same time? For example, I swear that in Left 4 Dead 2 the AI players aren't as competant on the Xbox 360 as they are on the PC. I'm probably wrong.

    That's actually a pretty good point, Jim. Keeping the game running as smoothly as it does probably takes a lot of power. Though I just remembered the amiibo fighters supposedly get super tough to fight as you level them up. Maybe they dumbed the in-game AI down a bit to make the amiibo fighters smarter by comparison? They still put up a fight, at least. It is good practice for the full game.

    They seem more human... which gives them advantages and disadvantages. I was actually surprised to see a Pikachu CPU run away so he can do some thundershock spam.

    They do seem more realistic, in a sense. Sometimes the AI felt a bit too perfect in their reactions in other games.

    And then there will be tournaments where only people's amiibos fight other amiibos. Holy carpe... amiibo is the new Pokemon.
