    you've never played majora's mask!? WHAT'S WRONG WITH YOU?!?! GO OUT RIGHT NOW TO THE WII VC AND DOWNLOAD IT. all will be answered then. In a nutshell; fierce deity's mask essentially transformed link into a demi-god/demon. (in japan its known as oni link, oni= demon in japan)
