Still a more proper Castlevania game than Lords of Shadow.

  • Lords of Shadow was pretty proper and a good game, specially the first two. They are both terribly underrated... except for the third one which wasn't as good as the first two...

  • I didn't like the first one. Haven't played the others, but I already know the plots of them and I am not happy with how they handled things.

  • There's no reason to expect the story to be the same, its sort of a reboot... It would be like expecting Ultimate Spider-man comics to have the same story as the original Spider-man comics. Or to expect Batman Begins to have the same story as Tim Burton's Batman. Besides, LoS does NOT in anyway, alter or replace the original Castlevania mythos. Its just a different interpretation of it.

  • And, to be honest, the production value of the first LoS is overwhelming. The game is entertaining and just overall well done. The people behind it really worked their a** off...

  • And what does having high production values have to do with overall quality? Just look at James Cameron's Avatar. Sure it looks pretty, but otherwise it's a terrible movie.

  • I respect your opinion, there's no reason to like a story you dislike. Also I can't help but to wonder if you gave those games a fair chance... I want to ask you: how much of your take on them is based on the games actually being bad? and how much of it is on wanting them to be the same as something you knew prior to the games release?

  • They just don't feel like Castlevania games, gameplaywise or stylistically. The first one has more in common with God of War or Dante's Inferno (both of which I despise). There's cute little nods here and there, but to me it utterly lacks the elegance of previous entries.

  • Ignore the damage controllers OP, your claim is 100% right. Lords of crappow is a insult to Castlevania.

  • I enjoyed the Lords of Shadow games as an enjoyable alt continuity. movement and whip action felt better than Lament of Innocence. As far as story goes, you've got a flawed and tragic hero against one of the ultimate evils. Everyone's tastes differ and not every game is for everyone.

  • Im not a fan of GoW or of Dante's Inferno neither. And I think they feel like what 3d modern Castlevania should feel like. And I love games like Super Castlevania IV.
